Judge Says You Can Touch This!

In what we think might be one of the worst rulings ever, a judge ruled that a pat on the butt is not "forcible touching"
and therefore, it's pretty much LEGAL. Fabric store employee Mohammed
Nuruzzaman was charged with forcible touching, third degree sex abuse,
and second degree harassment after allegedly touching a female
customer's butt - without her consent - last November. However,
Criminal Court Judge Richard M. Weinberg broke out The New Oxford
English Dictionary to say that patting was okay.

The
word "forcible" connotes something "done by force, vigorous and strong
and powerful." To pat is to "touch quickly and gently with the flat of
the hand."
A pat on the buttocks, regardless of how offensive it might be to the recipient, does not qualify as forcible touching.

Plus,
Judge Weinberg stated that the patting didn't "gratify sexual desire,"
so he threw out the sexual abuse charge. Nuruzzaman was left with the
harassment charge; the NY Post says that the forcible touching charge is more serious,
because if convicted, the jail sentence could be up to a year. Ugh.
While Gothamist suspected that you couldn't really file charges against
someone for patting you on the butt, we're not that happy that more
people know it's legal. Ladies (and gentlemen), Gothamist's suggestions
for avoiding unwelcome butt pats are to wear long coats, keep your
messenger bags on your butt, farting, and not participating in various
male sports.

Would anyone of you mark yourself with a tattoo saying you are a "cow", or perhaps a "heifer"?

If your answer is "no", then why would you do it in another language that you probably don't fully understand?

Granted, there are cultures that do regard highly of the animal,
but it is doubtful in the Western world. Just think when is the last
time some guy could start a conversation by complementing a woman's
cow-like features?

Shack in effect

hit the Shake Shack yesterday. and for real, that was the best burger of our life. everything's as amazing as last year if not better!

smell's like the best burger barbeque you've ever been to as you enter
the park. at 3:15 we waited about 5 min in line and another 10 min for
the food. everything was GREAT, but OH THAT BURGER! just perfect.

$11 for the dog, shack burger, cheese fries and rootbeer. a nice
little lunch for us and our burger bud, Chucky. we both noticed that
service was excellent (even better than last year, if that's even
possible.)Danny Meyers
restaurants (like our fave Gramercy Tavern) are known for great
service, it makes the spot extra nice that this tradition is carried on
at the Shake Shack. here's last year's review and photos for more info.

Fabien Cousteau’s Robot Shark Submarine

Jacques
Cousteau’s grandson Fabien is building a shark-shaped submarine that
will use pneumatics to power a working tail so that he will be able to
slip in undetected with real live sharks. It sounds a little scary:

the dive team on the Calypso “probably getting bored” decided to make
the robotic shark act erratic and ” injured”. Consequently, a large
female turned on the shark and gave it a “death blow” which is a bite
to the gills. She came back for several more and completely destroyed
the robotic shark.

That robot shark did not have a diver inside of it, but was instead helmed by forty pounds of bacon. (Thanks, Joseph!)

luetooth Snipers in LA?

Take one old Ruger 10-22 rifle, some electronics gear, a long can
antenna, and some time to spare, and you too can be The Bluetooth
Sniper...

Apparently, these guys built a Bluetooth rifle
and managed to stand on top of buildings in downtown Los Angeles
without getting corralled by the police. In the process, they were able
to connect to Bluetooth devices nearly a mile away:

"As more Bluetooth devices started appearing, John said, "This
building is full of Bluetooth! Look we got some Blackberries!" He also
explained that, with multiple guns, it would be possible to track a
single Bluetooth device as the person walked around. In less than a few
minutes, twenty devices were detected—all at distances over a half mile away! We decided to quickly conclude the scan, given police activity in the area earlier in the day from a bomb scare."

Below is an explanation of the general difference between the IMAP and
POP3 email protocols.

IMAP account

Using this protocol, all your mail stays on the server in multiple
folders, some of which you have created. This enables you to connect
to any computer and see all your mail and mail folders. In general,
IMAP is great if you have a dedicated connection to the Internet or
you like to check your mail from various locations.

POP3

With this type of email account you only have one folder, the Inbox
folder. When you open your mailbox, new mail is moved from the host
server and saved on your computer. If you want to be able to see your
old mail messages, you have to go back to the computer where you last
opened your mail.

With this type of account you do not have to stay logged on to the
Internet. You can log on when you want to receive and send new
messages. Once your new messages have been downloaded to your computer
you can log off to read them. This option is good when you connect
with your modem to DAS and are charged for your connection or you have
an older computer.

Leave mail on server vs. Remove mail from server

If you use the POP3 protocol and you read your mail from multiple
computers, you will want to "leave mail on the server." The reason for
this is so that the mail in your Inbox will be available to you at all
times. If you do not leave mail on the server, all the mail in your
Inbox will be downloaded to the computer you are currently using. If
you only read your mail from one location, then there is no need to
"leave mail on the server." You will see instructions on how to set
this option when you go through the steps to set up your email
program.

Why choose IMAP rather than POP3 with "leave mail on server"? With
POP3 "leave mail on server" only your email messages are on the
server, but with IMAP your email folders are also on the server.

Eat buffalo instead of beef!

eat buffalo. No exceptions except for strict vegetarians. If you've an
interest in soil and water conservation, biodiversity, keeping family
farms around, avoiding possible exposure to Mad Cow disease, energy
conservation, and personal health, you owe it to yourself to give it a
serious try. And I’m not talking about the pre-formed frozen "Buffalo
Burgers" sold by the big grocery chains.

Credit George Catlin, plains 'Painter in Residence' before settlers
ended the Bison's reign, for giving me a romantic view of the Buff. But
credit critical thinking, a strong desire for sustainability, and my
love of cooking for sending me on a TreeHugging Buffalo hunt. The
taste, I can report, is its own reward. Romanticism only carries so far.

George Catlin’s painting of the sacred buffalo dance (above)
documents what has been reported by European observers as a
'thanksgiving' celebration. I have a hunch it’s a lot deeper than that,
but, regardless, we all ought to dance for joy that the American Bison
was not driven to extinction. Thanks to Canada and more thanks to Teddy
Roosevelt for the rescue.

Let me count the reasons.

Buffalo are twice as efficient as beef cattle at
converting wild grass forage into animal protein. Add some more
efficiency because they need no “feedlot treatment” of hay, corn, and
antibiotics. Buffs are also more drought tolerant and less attracted to
natural waterways than are cattle: good for stream quality. Add up the
energy, land, and water inputs for a pound of meat and Bison wins by a
wide margin.

Bison are very well adapted to cold weather extremes, requiring
farmers to expend less energy to keep them warm and sheltered during
the depths of winter.

Fat
content of all buffalo is substantially less than beef or chicken. Less
fat coupled with the generally lower water content of buffalo meat
means lower cooking temperatures suffice. This, in turn, saves cooking
energy.

Buffalo meat producers tend to be family based. This could be a
transitory situiation, but TreeHuggers can have at keeping it that way
for a bit longer.

Pricing seems to vary widely so be sure to shop around.

Where to buy: -- In the interest of saving money and energy, as well as supporting a family enterprise, I ordered from a small farm in
Northern Minnesota, on the Eastern edge of the Bison’s native range. To
locate a supplier near you, you can try this trade organization GIS map, or just do a web search with “buffalo + meat + yourstate”.

Tradeoffs: -- It’s a tradeoff between unit cost,
shipping distance, and buying direct from a family producer versus a
large scale online retailer. Worth exploring who does the meat
processing and freezing. I was unable to find a Native American
supplier because of the deluge of web “hits” associated with cultural
and political history. Commenters?

TreeHuggers who have been paying attention to the issue of Peak Oil
may be interested in what large portions of the Great Plains might look
like sometime after 2030: buffalo grazing amongst the wind turbines,
rubbing their backs upon the concrete foundations.

Chances are you’re not going to find the latest goods from LG or Samsung in North Korea, but little-by-little,
technology is bringing change to the hermit kingdom, according to The New York Times. Cellphones, though

officially banned, are now commonplace in areas of the
country that border China, where they can receive signals via towers on the Chinese side of the border. Prepaid calling
plans — often paid for by South Korean journalists — let Northerners communicate with relatives and others in the
South. The technology with the biggest impact, however, is the VCR, which has become a must-have item. Smuggled decks —
ditched by Chinese upgrading to DVD players — are apparently widely available, and tapes of South Korean soap operas
are the latest rage. The government has responded predictably, by railing against Southern influence and cutting off

less. Revealed at Microsoft’s annual gadget showcase yesterday, this “toy” houses four microphones and a camera that
uses face finding technology to help parents monitor their children via the web, and speak with them remotely via a

Atlanta will be the first city in North America to roll out TV and radio programming in its subway rail cars. Each
of 230 cars will be fitted with 15-inch flat screens showing local news loops and radio transmitters offering music in
three formats: top 40, jazz and R&B. Content stays fresh (so fresh!) via software on the trains that downloads new
programming when the trains pass through ‘wireless clouds’ en route. Any FM receiver will be able to pick up the TV and

Boy, that was some great New Year season this year. I suppose I shouldn't have drunk as much as I did at my friend's Lantern Festival, but I was in the mood to really cut loose. Everyone says the Year of the Monkey is the year of success, filled with unexpected opportunities for all. What a load of crap. The Year of the Monkey couldn't have ended fast enough for me.

Everyone's like, "Year of the Monkey—that's one of the best astrological years, full of energy and vitality." Some parents even make an effort to conceive so that their kid'll be born in that year. I'm sorry, but last year sucked. I knew it the second I dropped the Prosperity Cake on the ground at the reunion dinner.

My sister was like, "But each Year of the Monkey brings new, unconventional ways of doing things." That's so true! My boss found a new and unconventional way to fire me. He told me that the way things were going, cutbacks were inevitable, so they had to let me go. Mind you, he didn't say they were strapped just yet, just that they were going to be. That's unconventional, all right! Thank you, Glorious Monkey. You piece of shit. Plus, my landlord told me one week into the year that my building was being turned into a bakery. What a blessing! I was kicked out of my apartment for a new, "unconventional" reason. Monkey, my ass.

"People born in the Year of the Monkey are fun and carefree." So true! The year produced my new roommate Ben, a drunken halfwit who slept through an entire semester of art-history classes and then complained to me for three hours when he got an "F." If a roulette wheel were completely black, the monkey would put his money on red. If the monkey ran the country, we'd be too busy holding cockfights to think about running schools and building roads.

My dad was born in the Year of the Monkey, but he's hardly what I'd call lively, unless you call watching television every waking moment of your life lively. At the beginning of last year, I had to deal with him acting like he was Emperor Qin Shi Huangdi all of a sudden. Every time he needed something done, it was like, "Hey Brian, come change this light bulb. After all, it's my year!" Then he'd laugh like it was the funniest joke he'd ever heard. I guess I thought it was funny on Jan. 22, but by June, I was tired of being his indentured servant. By that time, he'd just point at a burned-out light bulb without even looking up from Wheel Of Fortune.

Oh, I got dumped last year, too. Did I mention that? I met this woman who was great. We were clicking like nobody's business, and I really thought we had something going when she asked me what year I was born. I told her 1978, and she was quiet for a while before she said, "That's the Year of the Horse, isn't it?" I knew I was done for. She told me we'd have major compatibility issues because she was born in the Year of the Monkey. Fucking hell, she could have just said she didn't like me, but she had to pull that year-of-the-monkey business out of her ass. I suppose she thought she was letting me down easy.

Well, I sure hope the Year of the Rooster is better. The Year of the Rooster is characterized by overconfidence and bad judgment. Fine by me. With that as a backdrop, those of us with our heads on our shoulders—we horses and rats and so on—will be given a chance to really shine. So hopefully, things will turn around this year. But here's an early warning: Don't try calling me in 2016, because I'll be staying in bed the entire shitty year.

Seven-year-old Tilly Merrell said she ate “a burger with cheese, bacon, egg and ham. And
some hash browns.” It was her first-ever solid food.

When she was an infant, Tilly was diagnosed with Bulbar Palsy, a condition that prevents its sufferers from eating
solid food. Doctors fitted her with a stomach tube and a backpack; she’s been fed through the tube since then. But
when her community raised £10,000 to send her to California from her hometown of Warndon, U.K., physicians
from the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital told her she only had swollen tonsils and could eat normally.

Tilly is looking forward to eating pickles, she said.

Dyson’s coming out with a new vacuum cleaner that can call in to order its own spare parts when it breaks. Nah, it
doesn’t carry around a quarter or have a built-in cellphone or anything like that, what it does is alert you when
there’s a problem, and then you’re supposed to dial a special number at Dyson HQ and hold your phone up the vacuum
cleaner. It’ll then use secret crazy robotic vacuum cleaner code to signal to the engineers back at Dyson what’s wrong
and what replacement parts it needs, along with its model details and serial number so it can have the parts

Dog cameras aim to provide leads

Dogs fitted with the cameras can operate normally

Police have collared the latest in technology by kitting out their firearms dogs with cameras.

The miniature television camera and radio transmitter is
fitted on to a harness and can be placed on the heads of Northumbria
Police dogs.

It means they can search buildings and relay the information back to officers.

Sgt Glen Bland, from the dog section, said: "The
previous camera system had a heavy battery pack which meant the dogs
got tired quickly."

He added that the new system is 75% lighter and also produces improved picture quality.

"The dogs can operate absolutely as normal and just seem to forget the camera is there," he said.

Crème de la crème

The Fido camera system has infra-red lights, which means pictures can be provided in darkness.

Pictures are seen on a receiver unit carried by the dog
handler and an audio facility allows them to listen to any activity
near the dog.

Dogs are chosen for firearms duties if they show
qualities in their first three or four years which would make them
suitable for training in advanced searching.

Sgt Bland said: "They really are the crème de la crème and are trained to an extremely high standard."

The PetsCell allows dogs to talk to their owners via telephone.
(CNN) -- It's one of the biggest sources of guilt for a dog owner -- not spending enough time with their four-legged friends.

Now, a U.S. company has developed a device in a bid to reduce those feelings of despair, by inventing a cell phone so that dogs and their owners can communicate when they are away from each other.

The PetsCell, measuring 12.5cm (5 inches) by 7.5cm (3 inches), is shaped like a bone and is attached to the dog's collar. It works in much the same way as a conventional mobile phone.

The owner dials their pooch's number and after one ring, it automatically connects to the phone on the dog's collar, allowing the dog to hear its master's voice, transmitted out of a speaker built into the collar-piece.

If the dog barks in response, the owner will hear it through their own telephone, creating a dog-owner telephone "conversation."

PetsCell inventor Canadian Cameron Robb is now director of PetsMobility, the Arizona-based company producing the device.

As well as acting as a catalyst for absentee owners to communicate with their muts, Robb has also had interest in the device from search-and-rescue and hunting groups.

He believes it would also be useful to help find lost dogs.

"The ability to talk to your pet from a distance on the pet's own cellular phone is definitely novel," he said.

"But I envision the PetsCell having search-and-rescue, military, guide dog or even potentially patient and elderly care applications, to name a few."

The device costs about £100 ($188) and is expected to be on sale in the U.S. within the next six months, and in Britain by the end of the year.

Tim Miles, chief veterinary adviser for Britain's RSPCA, said micro-chipping dogs was a better way of keeping track of dogs.

Micro chipping involves a vet inserting a tiny device, about the size of a grain of rice, under the dog's skin.

If the dog is lost or stolen, dog wardens, the RSPCA or a vet can scan it for a microchip, which can immediately provide them with your contact details.

"The mobile phone could be removed by dog thieves, but a microchip is a reliable, permanent form of identification linking the animal to you," Miles said.

So I go to Dim Sum today with my parents at East on Kissena boulevard. The dim sum is cheap on M-Th and above average, not a bad place. One odd thing about this place though; my mom orders a cup of coffee and lo and behold the coffee comes in a "Starbucks" cup! I guess the East franchise of chinese restaurants has allowed the man to take over their coffee as well! It was really out of place, would you ask for a big mac at a diner? and have them super size it? Pretty soon people will be walking into dim sum places and be asking for shu mai and a vanilla mochaccino, or a star bucks and getting some don tat with their latte's. I give that one a Whodathunkit and three What-the-who-zits.
My room is starting to look homey-er! All that's missing now is a carpet and a bed.

A Case of the Mondays...

As if things couldn't get any worse...

So my friend comes over to learn stickshift today and as we go to my car, I somehow can't find it and I walk all around thinking i just forgot where it is... I eventually remember where it is and lo and behold

IT IS NOT THERE!

I had parked next to a tree on Friday after fellowship, and did not see the second sign point in the spot where my car had previously lay and it said "No Standing ANYTIME" and the sign i saw on friday was under it on the same pole which was next to the tree...

So we call up the dmv and find out the impound lot and head our way down there...

wow, I haven't blogged in the longest time! So let's get on with the update!

U is for unemployed, because that's what I am right now.
G is for gotta getta jobba fasta mon(that's Jamaican btw, speaking of Jamaican I love their beef patties).

My big sis made curtains for my room, the kitchen, living room, dining room and matching pillows!
I need to really be more productive and get this place set up, although the minimal funds are putting a damper on the design strategy, I will persevere for I am a "Bargain Hunter", at my last job I made a 2 page Frequently Asked Questions guide on how to find the best deal on almost anything. I should revise it and add in all the advanced search functions, commands, links and databases. Fatwallet isn't the only thing out there guys!

I missed cooking! Living on my own again has allowed me to play with my food again! Housewarming in a week or two on a Saturday! It saves alot of money too!

I am so jealous of people in college! Ah the good old days of no worries, friends everywhere, easy classes (for me at least haha). Japan too! I feel like I really need to study more because I am slowly losing all that I learned in college and in Japan. Time is flying!

I had an interview with Estee Lauder this week and probably one with Imclone next week. I was an hour and a half late for the EL interview because of all the flooding ( i gave myself an hour and a half to get there, for what is normally a 45 minute drive) The interview just went ok, =( I pray God has something for me out there. If I do get either of these jobs in the next two weeks, I'm going to ask if I could start a little later and visti the carribean (St maarten, a friend is there for school) and Tokyo ( friend works there)
